Ho!!! He uttered S, E and X words together !!!

“Son, anyone sitting on this seat?” a man (should be around 65) asked me in the bus while I was traveling from Chandigarh to Delhi.

“No, you may sit here,” I responded and he sat.
Later on I sensed that he was heavily drunk.

To my right was sitting a girl, beautiful, slim and dressed in western. Shy and Conservative (at least the first impression I got), apparent that she wasn’t interested in talking to any of us either.

The bus started and thanks to smoothness of Indian roads, we soon starting getting bounces. The old man was also bouncing. Till bouncing it was fine, but as we were sitting near front door and as he was getting imbalanced also at every jerk, it was making me scary. I couldn’t afford seeing him flying out of the running bus and dying in front of my eyes.

“Sir, would you like to sit in the middle seat?” I offered. I think I had only this way to make him come in the middle, as it was not a good option to tell him that Sir, as you are drunk and out of your senses, you will fly out of bus by bounces any time, so please come in the middle to dodge it!!

“Sure son. In fact, I too wanted to come in the middle!! You took words out of my mouth,” he was getting a bit more formal. I didn’t know that he was having this anxious desire to come in the middle seat and didn’t understand it either even when he came in the middle.

“Uncle, please keep your hand in your seat’s boundary,” the female voice requested humbly after some time.
Uncle, making the excuse of the same imbalance thing reciprocated.

We were out of Chandigarh now, the bus lights had been put off and only small bulbs were remained lit on, and bus was talking to its bosom buddy air now.

“Uncle, please put your head off my shoulder,” the female voice registered her objection again.

“You are like my daughter. This boy is like my son. You are my children,” the bastard said, laughed a cunning smile and reciprocated

Every time after raising her objection, she was staring at me as if asking my assistance by her eye-language.

I and that beautiful girl looked at each other and had our eye contact. Her eyes were of course very beautiful but had that disappointment and sadness . I felt that her eyes were talking to me and were saying something. Like saying that why you sat at the extreme left leaving me fighting with this brutal demon alone!! Her eyes hadn’t the tears, but the way those eyes were talking to me were piercing my heart out.

10 minutes passed and the old man pretended to be sort-of sleeping.
“Uncle, why can’t you keep your feet away,” shouted the female voice of the girl to break the tranquility of the ambience, but went unheard by many as the bus driver was playing some music at full volume.

I saw that the old man had his right feet in between feet of that now-pathetic girl.

“Excuse me,” I talked to that girl for first time.
“Would you mind coming to extreme left,” I asked. This way she would come to extreme left, I in the middle and that drunkard to extreme right.

The happiness in her eyes and her eye-language told me that this was what she wanted. The old man stared at me like an enraged bull but was helpless as probably he had got the feeling by our eye-contact that any word uttered and the bus becoming a smack down and this slur-of-society beaten up by me like anything. But because it could have made others in the bus take entertainment out of that girl, I better chose to refrain beating that savage.

“Thanks,” the girl said after settling at her new place and I nodded.
“Sophia, she said and forwarded her hand for hand-shake
“Ravi,” and we shaked hands

She was happy to come to extreme left but still had trauma of what that old-drunkard was trying to do. The trauma that he was trying to dis-respect a girl who should be definitely his daughter’s age, that how his own daughter would be managing at home and that when will this stop happening!!

“I was thinking to come out of this seat and sit on the stairs of the bus,” she said and I really didn’t know what to respond to that girl.

Sometimes in life we speak a lot and sometimes we get such moments where our silence becomes the best solace for other person, so I chose to opt the 2nd one but she chose to continue and to open her heart out.

“Why can’t we be respected,” she questioned.
“Why can’t we travel alone at night and why can’t we stay alone in apartments” she had utmost pain in her heart.
“When we walk on the road, why we are stared at like we are the prey of these brutal predators? Why they scan our body and what do they think how would we be feeling on seeing them doing this?” she had tears in her eyes and her voice was breaking.

I really didn’t know what to do. I wanted to wipe her tears but sometimes tears help more than sympathy. So I chose to be unsympathetic.

“Ravi, tell me one thing. Why doesn’t it happen abroad, in western countries?” she questioned.

“Probably because they are advanced societies,” I answered.
“Why can’t we be advanced then? What is stopping us? And why we are made to die every day experiencing these traumas?” she questioned.

“Our taboos,” I responded
“And what’s the way to break those taboos,” she queried
“Sex Education,” I thought but didn’t utter. I am an IT guy and not a conservative, but even I faltered on uttering the S,E and X words together.

“Sex Education is the only way,” came the voice.
I agreed to her nodding my head. I was feeling ashamed that I couldn’t say this before she did, but by now I had realized that we still feel shy of intonating S, E and X together

And it wasn’t my fault. We have been brought up like this that the time S, E and X words are uttered by you together, many eyes frown, many surprised making you feel like an alien and many making you feel disgraceful.

“Ho!!! He uttered the S, E and X words together,” one would wonder.
“The SEX did you say??” other would ask

“Would Sex Education serve the purpose? Would these predators stop their misdeeds?” I had a genuine question and I asked Sophia
“At least there will be awareness in society, people will have correct knowledge, children will know what molestation is and activities of these bastards will be restrained,” she said and continued.

“We girls won’t feel shy registering our concerns and raising our voice. The nation will have fewer sick people. Youth will know that bodily changes are due to hormonal changes and will have proper knowledge of all this. But this all can be done only thro’ proper education and honest education. Thence staring at us, probing our bodies and making us feel disrespected will eventually stop automatically. We will be a nation of sensible and healthy-minded people. Automatically we will be advanced” she stopped.

“It was making sense to me, but is it possible in a so-called volte-faced nation like ours? The nation where culture and civilization is talked of but whose society is deteriorating every day. The nation where we still talk of values and ethics, but are amongst most corrupt. The nation where we don’t want to talk sex, but girls are insecure, angry and disappointed at the apathy of governments and society at large?” I had all these thoughts in my mind.

I stared at her, she was looking very vibrant and energetic. Her hands were making movements and her gestures had a tinge of revolution

"I expect our generation to be audacious to give sex education to its posterity.I would render sex education to my children at least so that my daughter won't have to experience that dishonor which I do and my son won't do any such thing which would make daughters of others feel that trauma." sophia replied.

She had the solution, the way by which she could stay alone in her house without her parents worrying about her, the way by which she could travel alone without any panic, the way by which she hasn’t to be at anyone’s mercy or assistance.

Thence came Delhi and we parted.

I am aboard the flight to Bangalore while I am writing this blog. I am envisioning the dream of Sophia’s India. The dream of India with an advanced-society. The society where people have knowledge of sex and the society where Sophias haven’t to make any more pleas to Uncles, and haven’t to stare at any Ravis for assistance.

The shangrila India !!!

Punjabi, North Indian or a Complete Indian ??

“Congrats Ravi,”a friend not belonging to Punjab came and patted on my shoulder. Confused I rewinded my history of that day and day before not to find any such single achievement for which I should have been congrated.
“For what,”muddled I asked.
“You guys won the gold medal,”he disclosed.
“you guys??? Gold? What do you mean?,” I have never ever won even a single bronze,so was completely at sea
“Abhinav Bindra won the gold at Olympics,he belongs to your Punjab.Isn’t it,” he clarified.
I felt like shouting but kept mum.The day passed and the episode ended.

“Congrats Agni,”another friend not belonging to Punjab came and patted on my shoulder while I was working on one of my blog posts.
It was kind of Déjà vu !!
“Now for what,”I asked
“your Pugilist Akhil defeated the world champion in boxing and Sushil Kumar won the bronze in wrestling,”he shamelessly uttered,
It was getting tougher for me to withstand these compliments anymore(I am a choleric type person) but again I didn’t counter. But these two incidents made me wonder about my identity !!

Who am I? A Punjabi, a North Indian or an Indian?

When mallu P.T.Usha represents in Olympics, doesn’t she represent India? When Mumbaikar Sachin Tendulkar hits a century, doesn’t that score add to India’s total tally? When Tamilian Mahesh Bhupati hits an ace in Davis cup, isn’t it India that wins? When Bengali Rabindranath tagore is awarded Noble prize, isn’t it India that feels that honor? When Bihari Kautilya is talked of and saluted for his vision and intellect, isn’t it entire India that is esteemed.

Then why am I singled out as a Punjabi? Why shouldn’t I congrat these guys of my team(those friends were my teammates in my project) for the Olympics medals and why am I made to solely cherish these victories?

Offended I contemplating these thoughts left the office in the evening. It was raining heavily and Auto-people spiral their fares 3-4 times during such odd-weathers,saying that it’s their business time. It’s unimaginable to ride a bus in a metropolis because riding a bus would mean to stand on a feet for the entire trip of 10-12 km.

So I rather chose to take the lift from any 2-wheeler.

“Where are you going sir,”I asked a person on bike, around 40-45 years in age who was waiting at the traffic signal
“Where are you from,”he furiously asked.
“God why everyone is asking me my identity,”I thought
“Punjab,”I humbly replied.
“Then what are you doing in my state,”he hurled
“You go back to your state and ask there for the lift,”he bluntly and shamelessly told

It was my 3rd time since morning when I was being told that I am not an Indian but a Punjabi, that I don’t belong to India and that there’s nothing called India, so I couldn’t refrain anymore

“Who in the hell are you to tell me to go back to my state,”I shouted
“Who are you? You bastard,” I was completely mal-treating him now. Enough was enough. I needed the decision.
“This is my state. How dare you told me to go from here. This land doesn’t belong to your father. It’s as much mine as it’s yours,”I made it very clear to him.
“I can come anywhere,go anywhere, stay anywhere in India,I haven’t to take license from anyone to go anywhere in India,” I said.

I was furious, but I wanted to cry as well,to weep but as I am a male and as males don’t cry in public,so I didn’t(but I am not a male chauvinist)

It was raining heavily but I had the volcanic lava boiling deep down at heart. I wanted to slap him,but as I had attended my company’s soft-skills training the same day,so under the stupor of that soft-skill thing,I didn’t.

Reached home at night to switch on the TV to find Vijender Kumar reserving the bronze by reaching the Semi-finals. I knew now what I had to do in office the next day.

“Congrats Lakshmi,”I told one of my teammate, the same boy who was the first to wish me the previous day
“For what,”came the reply.
“you guys won another bronze,”I replied, winked and moved to next cubicle
“Congrats Madhu,”I felicitated the other guy.
“What for, man??” this was his turn to be bemused
“You won another bronze in boxing,” I said
“Now your tally of medals in Olympics is 3.I am ecstatic and blissful.Let’s celebrate,”I kept talking and then came back to my cubicle

Both of them had understood that what I implied by this deed. Embarrassed, ashamed and ignominious, they came to my cubicle.

“Ravi, sorry for yesterday,” they said. They seemed really sorry for their deed.
“Thanks man. We didn’t even realize our misdeed,” Madhu said.
“It’s ok. You realized it, this makes my day,” I replied
“We don’t need Punjab or Haryana or Kashmir or tamilnadu or Bengal or
Assam or Karnataka, we need India. We are better off being Indians,”they said unequivocally. Now I was a happy being.

It is 12 midnight while I am writing this blog,I have just returned from Firangi paani(a funky pub of bangalore) where we 3 along with 3 others from some other states had had a treat to celebrate the Olympic medals of 3 Indians, rather than those of any Punjabis or Haryanvis or Maharashtriyans or of any other state.

Don't drive Red or you will Die !!!

“Priest,it’s the lunar eclipse today evening.what should I do to dodge its impacts,” one male voice uttered on a leading news channel. The vista of the news channel was a priest sitting along with a spruce and snappy lady, the correspondent of the biggest farce I had ever seen.

“This lunar eclipse doesn’t bode auspicious for the human species,it brings with it sufferings for human beings, people who have their mars and Uranus at the nadir will be the worst effected. They will lose jobs, won’t get a baby boy and will have their marriages at stake”promulgated the priest who was donning more than a dozen beadings on his neck along with 3-4 different colors on his forehead.

Had that male voice not uttered him Priest,I would have assumed it as some live circus show or 'the great indian laughter show' on television with this person as the buffoon. But he was not a clown but a smart professional who is fooling naïve and unsophisticated people of my country.

“Priest, what should I do to evade this ominous tragic event,”mouthed the male voice again.
“Take 3 bowls of oil,see your face in each bowl at an interval of 1 hour and at the completion of 3 hours, put that oil on your handpump,”the priest instructed,as if he was the biggest heart specialist of the nation and have had many successful heart transplantation feathers in his cap.

With almost 20 live calls, a dozen commercial breaks and the priest getting a couple of lac rupees for these crap and vulgar suggestions, the show ended. But it left me pierced and penetrated.
Penetrated because on the weekend, I found that the Lunar eclipse show of that leading news channel topped the TRP list of all the shows of all news channels for that week.

I was still a wounded person, and one day walking on the roads of Bangalore(I like ice-cream,so was going to the famous cool-joint of jayanagar),I found a funky billboard on the side of the road.
“If you are jobless, don’t have a baby, want to go abroad or have any other problem,we have a guaranteed solution. The solution which hasn’t failed for years.contact us at 98xxxxxxxx,”the board read.

Now the wounded snake, lion and Ravi Agni are very dangerous. You shouldn’t try to try them, but this board tried.

“Zodiac consultants,”a sweet female voice said.
“I am facing so many grave problems, can I meet the priest,”I said.I just wanted to meet that priest and hurl out my entire frustration at him.On getting appointment of same evening,I reached that priest.

“Hmm,what day and time were you born,”asked the priest. He was a funky priest, dressed in costly suit,I guess he had his farcical business hugely prosperous.
“11th September,4:30 am,”I told any time.

After silence of a few minutes,he started:

“your moon and sun are at their nadir,”the priest expressed his concern.

“Moon is the only natural satellite of earth, the place where the man has already walked in july 1969.And sun is the fusion of hydrogen to helium, the centre of solar system around which all planets including earth rotate. How can they be at nadir or zenith, they are what they are.The same for all,”I thought but didn’t utter any word.

“your mars is very dangerous,”the priest said making his face very grim.
“Don’t drive Red or you will die,”the priest concluded.

“What you just said,Don’t drive Red or you will die,”I was an enraged bull.Taking his costly kurta from his neck in my fist,I shouted.Unawares of this reaction,he stood still
“Tell me,what’s the connection between red and death,”I shrieked my lungs out.
“I said tell me,”I shouted. The receptionist from outside came in hearing this voice, but dared not interfere
“What in the hell has time to do with job, babies or foreign trips. What has lunar eclipse to do with mars,Uranus you bastards,”I said gazing at the receptionist.Anticipating that she could be given a slap-kiss on her cheek any time, she ran out of scene.
I pushed him back on his posh chair and came out.I am sure he won’t amend his ways

Coming back to my house, after cooling down I sat to write this blog. I am thinking what makes these priests or consultants evolve these theories. And with my observation and analysis, what conclusion I reached is this:

Superstition and politics has a very close connection. The development of a nation is inversely proportional to the superstition. The more developed a nation, the more people are prosperous, the lesser the mars,Uranus thing. The poorer a nation, the less-confident it is.The less transformed and transmuted public and the more superstition.

The nation India which has 28 percent population living below poverty line, and 1/4th of nation’s population earning less than $0.40 per day(you read it right),how can superstition be eradicated?
The naïve and illiterate people think these planets as supernatural powers rather than as celestial bodies, the celestial bodies which are nothing but gas giants or smaller rocky terrestrials.

How can stones like ruby, sapphire help one crack IAS,GMAT or CAT et al? How will putting 3 bowls on a handpump help one take a job or get a baby boy? How would putting a couple of beans in the river help dodge the sinister? And how would a lunar eclipse where the sun comes in front of moon effect our lives?

But I won’t get many takers of my post. There would be people who will still consider these celestial bodies as supernatural,if this post hurts them, then yes this is my motive. And if they got hurted, then I confess my motive fructified. Fructified because this hurting would help them have a relook at their notion and convictions. To look at the other part of picture-the picture where we find our lives decided by ourselves,by our own decisions,by our own actions and the picture where planets say that they are fine where they are and that they don't keep any interest in involving themselves in human lives.

We won’t be able to eradicate superstition unless we eradicate poverty from our society.Poverty and joblessness diminish their confidence and willpower. And one can’t get his life transformed unless he regains that confidence, the belief in his own ability and the fire from within to attain it.

Interestingly, I have the Red car which I have been driving for last 2 years. So I stop my post here because I have to drive the same red car to the McDonald to eat my favorite McVeggie with extra-cheese :-)

We were siblings sometime

On broken relations between siblings
------------------------------------------------

Tired, exhausted and fatigued, I returned back home
Power was off and the weather was hot
The generator of the building turned bad and I felt raged
It was the month of May and the rains were still away
Sleeping without AC, I can’t manage it, my wife told me straightaway

I called the power house, but as usual found the line engaged
I tried half an hour, but then gave way
Cursing India, I lamented the decision to return from the States
Throwing the cordless away, I gazed at my spouse
Seeking her furious, I proposed to sleep upstairs
Finding no other way, her infuriated contour gave its nod

Laying cots on the floor, I reminisced some thoughts
Bypassing those thoughts, I reclined on the floor
My wife cursing India asked us to go back to the States
Assuring her to return hastily, I stared at Moon and stars, and got framed by those thoughts

What common did I find in this moon?
I had got grey hair, but the moon was still same
The stars were same, the location was same and the orientation alike
Exactly Same what we siblings used to gaze whole night long years ago
We siblings broke up but the moon and stars were still intact
Staying together and loving and caring for one another
They were still ready to assist others, willing to die for others and as always happy for others

The Moon still had a slur
The stars were still twinkling
But those inadequacies were still not potent enough to tear them asunder

The cool breeze was still blowing
The Mother nature was still embracing me
The moon was composed and the stars poised
But their composure was erupting a volcano inside me

It were we who had changed
In our daily chores, in our hectic lives, in our mutual hatreds
For our petty selfishness, for our minnow benefits and for our superficial elegance

The moon was big and the stars tiny
I was elder and other siblings small
The moon succeeded to keep the sky in concert
But who had failed to keep siblings together was me

Moon never competed with the stars
It was never envious, it felt joyous on seeing the stars

But I felt jealous on seeing the siblings glad
I broke up with them when they needed me to stand

I got rich and they became impoverished
When they needed me, I left them exactly then

Moon gave its moonshine to the stars
Remained dimmed but beamed the stars
but I failed to give my younger even their right
Of sleeping on wet and keeping them dry
became the sword when they expected the shield

These thoughts were making it unbearable for me to sleep under the sky
The moon was intolerable and the stars were making me shy
Stars were making me feel opprobrious and disgraceful
The sky was disdainful and the stars indifferent

Cool breeze was blowing but I was sweating
All of a sudden I screamed and got up

It was 6 in the morning and stars had disappeared
The moon had went away and sun had risen

What happened, coming upstairs asked my wife
Was I in a dream, asked I
Yes you were, asked my wife
What was it about, enquired she
Of a person who fled his duties, replied I

Then I wondered what I replied
Filled with regret and remorse, I determined to repent
To make up for what I had done

So, when are we flying to the States,
This India is our States, replied I
We will stay here, and are journeying to my village today, replied I

I stared at the sky
The moon and stars were not there
But I thanked the sky
I thanked the power house and the telephone line
My wife gazed at esoteric me
While I kept thanking the sky
Thanking the sky
Thanking the sky

Sponsoring education of impoverished

While I was working on my book(my favorite pastime),someone knocked the door. I get maddened when someone disturbs me when I work.In that enrage, I opened the door to find a beautiful baby, around 6 years old named laskhmi. She came along with her mother, our housemaid. It was her first visit to my house.I found her cute and her innocent smile melted my anger.

She at her best ability was trying to assist her mother and this altruist hard-work that she was putting and the gestures that were appearing on her face while putting those hard efforts were making her even more beautiful.

My house is not a one bedroom house. It can be called a mansion with three big rooms, a huge hall and a big kitchen. Her mother was washing utensils in the kitchen,so as a sort of time management, she picked up the broom to start cleansing from my room.

Now here my idiosyncracy started.
“What is your name?” I asked not to find any reply back.I tried 2-3 times both in English and Hindi but to no gain.
“Ok, tell me in which class do you read,” I opted to ask another question, but in return found that twinkly face turning grim. I could apparently feel a sad, sorrow heart. The heart which my question and my ignorance had brutally pierced.

Her eyes got brimmed up with tears and she started weeping with those innocent hiccups. Her small hands were continually wiping the tears off her eyes but her eyes were shedding the tears eternally to keep her wiping them forever. Her mother came from kitchen to mollycoddle the baby. She carried lakshmi in her lap and uttered something in Kannada, which I am not good at,hence couldn’t grasp. But it was inferable to me. She was luring the baby that in the evening papa will come back from work with a doll and after few such baitings, the baby came back to smile again and picking up the broom returned back to assist her mother.

What I later found was that my housemaid(who calls me Ravi Bhaiya) has 3 daughters with lakshmi being the oldest. Her husband is a labourer who earns 80 rupees a day. The combined income of the couple is appx 4500 per month, hence they can’t afford the schooling of their kids in a big metropolis like bangalore. Ignorant of these realities, when lakshmi sees other children of her age going to school, she gets immensely hurted and sometimes her sorrows come out in the shape of tears. And every time her parents allure her with the promise of getting her a doll which they never bring.

They left for another house and I returned to my laptop working on my book. Then the thought struck me that one day I will become a great storyteller,a millionaire, but what will happen to lakshmi? What will be the fate of thousands other lakshmis? Her tear-wiping hands were still vivid in my mind.I wasn’t wanting to work on my book. Her tears had pierced my heart massively.

In those thoughts,I opened my mailbox(which I unconsciously do many times a day to find no new e-mail) to find a mail from my organization about the need for sponsoring lifetime or yearly education, books and uniform of impoverished and needy children. The mail had been sent late previous night.Had I checked my mailbox before meeting lakshmi,it could have been another shift+delete for me.But this time I dared not delete it.

Yes,this is what I need to do,to sponsor the education of one innocent baby, whose fairy-land is the school where she/he wants to go in uniform,to study, play and become a self-dependant and confident citizen. Then I googled in my curiosity to find any NGO working for this cause and was surprised to find many volunteers and NGOs working and awakening privileged people like me who can contribute a drop for this cause to turn it into an ocean one day.

Next time, when I will meet lakshmi,I won’t have to pierce her heart when I will ask her the class she reads in.She will have the answer that she is in first standard and will tell me her name and her class in English,Hindi as well as in Kannada. And when I will write her an e-mail 10 years down the line, she will reply me on e-mail and probably 15 years down the line, she will also have written a book, the bestseller of that year.

Are we Indians really human beings??

It's not my inference or any sort of conclusion, but a question to all fellow Indians? Are we really human beings?Do we Indians deserve to be really called Human beings? Do we befit this definition?

If this question frowns us,embarrasses us or even enrages us,then you are correct, this is my intention. At least this question invoked any one of our 5 senses, otherwise we have turned so insensitive that we don't deserve being called human beings.

As per the lexicon, any living or extinct member having superior intelligence, compassion, emotions, love for others, altruism has been termed a human being. The one who cares for others, transcends petty benefits, has realization, doesn't marginalize others only is a human being. Then do we really represent humanity?

The nation where malnutrition is among the largest in the world, underweight children are nearly double that of sub saharan africa, where we face power problem, water problem, infrastructure shortage, deteriorating environment problem, what right do we have to call us human beings?

We are happy to live without power for hours,to stand in the bus on 1 foot with 15 people hanging with one hand taking support of 1 pole,to die of hunger, harsh winter, harsh summer. We are massively ready to make compromises on inflation, environment, unemployment and still want to be called human beings!!

On any given day,any terrorist group can explode bombs in any part of the nation at will, rail tracks are sabotaged, roads are blocked, and we compromise on every such instance. In metropolis,we keep waiting for hours for traffic to clear and for hours for rainwater level to decrease.Did we ever question our governments about their duty? Are we really human beings?

We keep no traffic sense, every vehicle seems hungry just to make a labyrinth of the road and to find its own way,the nation where we have no option but to buy water for drinking else we will surely suffer from umpteen intestinal diseases, the nation where road-clash is a minor thing, the nation where we share no respect for other human being, the nation where being poor is the biggest curse and the nation where seeing beggars on the road is a common thing for us.can we really afford to be called human beings?

No no no...We are not human beings! The word 'human being' is a misnomer for us.We are millionares,we have a car,a flat, enough bank balance.done.our job is done.finished...We don't care for others, why should we after all !!!what shall we attain?

And for those who want to befit the race of human beings, you will have to take a vow today. Vow not to make any compromises. Not even a single compromise.

Let's reach every Indian using technology if not physically.Let's awake them.Let's reach cosmopolitans, tier 2 cities, tier 3 cities, towns and villages.Let's not bear any injustice happening to anyone. No more people sleeping on roads,no more people hanging on poles of buses, trains. Let the connectivity and consciousness of every Indian be our mission.

All in all, only he has the right to be called Human being who fights for his rights.Do we fight for any of our rights?Power,infrastructure,pollution-free environment, drinking water, meals, shelter, employment are not the goodwill gesture of the governments, they are our rights. To provide this is the reason why we have chosen them, this is the sole reason why they are there.

Tomorrow when we wake up and our neurons ask us-are we human beings-I wish and I earnestly hope that we carry an answer which doesn't embarrass us.

Greenomania

If I ask what's your favourite color, you will respond red, being the color of revolution, white, symbol of peace, pink, esthetic or even yellow, violet and so and so and so. But if you ask me my favourite color,it is Green. If you say I am greenomaniac, it won't be an exaggeration. I like gree vegetables, I like Green Granitas(at Baristas), I love green Saag cooked by my Mom(my punjabi dish), I love green ink to write, but above these all-I love green environment. The ecologically balanced environment.

A few centuries ago, green was prevalent and omnipresent. Then came our human involvement,or human interference(to precisely say). And this omnipotent species didn't take even more than a few centuries to make this planet greeno-deficient. Last 6,50,000 years on one side and last 2 centuries on the other, emission of CO2 and CH4 has been equal.IPCC(International panel on climate change) warns that 21st century will witness a 6.4 degree rise in temeperature. And comes with it many repurcussions: rise in sea level, increased intensity of extreme weather conditions, many more Katrinas,Tsunamis,Hurricanes, change in agricultural yields, and last but not the least increase of diseases.

It's getting very hot out today, all of you have said it to someone sometime. But have you ever realized why it is hot? Why the month during which we have had lot of rains, we are barren of any rain? Why we are witnessing these natural calamities, floods somewhere and draughts somewhere else? Who is responsible for this? Who should bear responsibility for this? Do you really want to know the answer?

If yes, then hear. The answer is we. We the people.CO2 and CH4 have increased by 31% and 49% since beginning of industrial revolution in mid-1700s.Do we really love our children? Are we really concerned about our posterity? If you want to know the frank honest candid answer, then we don't love them.Without mincing any word, let me tell that we are not concerned about them.

Are you really aware what will the planet earth be like,if we continue our emission of greenhouse gases at our present pace? If no, then the above information is for you.
